The German Historical Museum (Deutsches Historisches Museum) is a German museum located in Berlin. It was founded in 1987 by Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Berlin Mayor Eberhard Diepgen in celebration of the city's 750th anniversary, and is dedicated to preserving Germany's history. In 2004 it was expanded with a project by I. M. Pei, opening its doors to the public in 2006, with the exhibition German History in images and testimonies from two thousand years old.
