The idea for the construction of Casa da Música came about under the Porto 2001 - European Capital of Culture. Located in the Rotunda da Boavista area, halfway between downtown and the business area of Boavista and Foz, is Casa da Musica, an imposing building of polyhedral shape created by the architect Dutch Rem Koolhaas.
