In beautiful tranquil natural surroundings, this charming 13th century stone-built hotel offers comfortable, attractive accommodation with modern facilities seamlessly integrated alongside beautiful original features.

The Tudor Farmhouse Hotel is situated in the historic village of Clearwell, on the fringe of the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Deep in the heart of the natural beauty of the countryside, the hotel is surrounded by immaculately kept landscaped gardens and 14 acres of fields.

The building’s stunning original features include massive oak beams, original panelling, an oak spiral staircase and a large, rough stone inglenook fireplace in the attractive lounge. The 20 en suite rooms have been refurbished in a traditional style without compromising the structure’s beautiful historic charm. Each room offers sensitively incorporated contemporary comforts and facilities, including tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and wireless internet access. The Forest of Dean is an area of outstanding natural beauty providing a wide range of outdoor leisure and adventure activities for all tastes and ages. To the northwest of the hotel lies the Wye Valley and Symonds Yat Rock, offering water sports and outdoor adventure activities set against a beautiful backdrop of dramatic scenery and fascinating wildlife.

Within easy reach of the Tudor Farmhouse are several towns hosting major cultural festivals throughout the year. These include the Hay-On-Wye and Cheltenham festivals of literature, the Abergavenny Food Festival, the Monmouth agricultural show and the Ross-On-Wye music festival.

The Forest of Dean and the surrounding area has a fascinating and varied local history and there are reminders scattered throughout the region, from medieval castles and abbeys, such as Raglan in the Welsh borders and Tintern Abbey, to the grandeur of Gloucester Cathedral. The area is renowned for its mining heritage and there is no better place to start than Clearwell Caves, which is within walking distance of the hotel. Nestling in the picturesque village of Clearwell, the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel provides the ideal setting for a relaxed, restful restorative break in the beautiful, tranquil surroundings of the Royal Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Great pride is taken in the standard of comfort and hospitality on offer in every aspect of the hotel, from the candlelit restaurant to the 20 well-appointed en suite double, twin and family rooms, some of which have 4-poster beds or spa baths. The restaurant offers an intimate and comfortable environment alongside superb food from an extensive à la carte menu. Private parties can also be catered for and business guests can hold meetings in the function room, which has a capacity of up to 25 guests.

With mature gardens and a terrace area in which to enjoy the country air and views, the hotel can also offer 14 acres of grounds to explore. The grounds have been designated an area of Special Scientific Interest due to the rare and varied flora that can be found on the banks and rock outcrops.
