Caleta englobe est l'une des plages les plus fréquentées et les plus centrales de la ville de Viña del Mar. Cette baie fermée est bordée au sud par Cerro Recreo avec le couvent et l'église des Capucins sur la falaise, et derrière de beaux bâtiments face à la Cerro Castillo. Il possède également un grand nombre d'arbres et de jardins.
Il est généralement visité par les Viñamarinos et les porteños qui connaissent ses eaux propices à la baignade.

Une des options pour se rendre à Viña del Mar est par la route 68, vous entrez dans Valparaíso et suivez les bons panneaux pour vous rendre à Viña. La route Viña - Valparaíso est longue de 5,5 km et commence à Caleta Abarca.
Il y a aussi une route directe vers Viña del Mar depuis la route 68 vers Variante Agua Santa ou la route 66, pour parcourir un beau chemin avec vue sur la baie de Valparaíso et les plages de Viña del Mar.
Son atmosphère est plus détendue, loin de l'agitation de Reñaca ou de Playa Las Salinas mais non moins bondée car en été, elle accueille un grand nombre de visiteurs.
Ce spa est le plus populaire et le plus connu de Viña del Mar et possède un paysage magnifique.
Caleta Abarca, est une belle plage absolument recommandée pour son atmosphère agréable et son accès facile.
