The Memorial Chico Science (MCS) is another cultural equipment of the Recife City Hall, administered by the Recife City Culture Foundation, being part of the Recife e Olinda Cultural Tourism Complex.
A memorial by definition is a space dedicated to memories, a place of reconstruction of lived stories. However, thinking about conceptualizing a Memorial for Chico Science leads a path that, starting in the past, could not overlook the future. Therefore, beyond the rescue of Science's past, the memorial has the fundamental function of carrying forward its philosophy of cultural reinvention.
Among some of the many projects that “belied” the singer's judgment, was the Antromangue, where the dissemination of musical knowledge, literature, cinema, arts and popular culture would be promoted. Its operating structure, not yet defined, provided for actions such as workshops, lectures and musical events.
Redeeming this idea and making it real, activating it, seems to be of fundamental importance in a space thought to speak of the artist's memory. So the idea is to transform Memorial Chico Science not only in a place where its history is preserved, but also in a production incentive cell, where the main raw material for this is provided: information - very precious to Chico and his greatest tool for job.
