Feast of the Master Jesus

From the time of the colony the image of El Amo Jesús was venerated, possibly brought from Quito - Ecuador, carved from fine wood.

According to the story he was found in Huisito, in a place called Guinea behind the western mountain range, according to the parish priest Rafael Solarte, in that region a wild tribe dwelt and one day they jumped to the site lit the huts and killed some Christians, those who fled were they took the image and hid it in a jungle cave, while some travelers stayed in that place and listened to some mysterious songs, they gathered and went to observe and such surprise they found the image in perfect condition, from there they brought it The people of Chapa continued to be venerated, but for fear of a new assault they took him to _Piagua and then to El Tambo where they built a straw chapel in the place where the cross was raised. Days passed and an ecclesiastical community ordered him to take it to Popayán and this caused disagreement with those who here in the Tambo revered him, when the freighters took him to take him and a crowd followed him and sang saying:

If you abandon us

Who will we wait for?

Who will we go to?

And who will save us.
