C'est un bâtiment remarquable de Faro, d'origine médiévale.
Elle est actuellement au service de l'Eglise orthodoxe (patriarcat de Roumanie) et est consacrée à l'apôtre Tomé (Apostol Toma, en roumain). Cela a provoqué un changement dans la décoration intérieure du temple, notamment avec l'introduction d'un panneau avec des icônes orthodoxes devant l'autel.
