The park includes the areas of the south bank Mapocho river between Plaza Baquedano and Plaza Prat.
The Forest Park is the most traditional park in the city of Santiago de Chile, and is located in the heart of the city, between the Lastarria neighborhood and the historic center, whose reference is the Plaza de Armas de Santiago. It borders the Mapocho River throughout the historic center of Santiago at its northern limit from Plaza Baquedano or Italy to the Mapocho Station and at its midpoint is the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Important cultural and recreational activities are carried out in the Forest Park and it is one of the most important reference points in the Chilean capital. Through its 171,910 square meters lined by Merced and José María Caro (Costanera) avenues, it constitutes a green lung of the historic center.
