Le parc est dans une petite vallée, en son centre il y a une esplanade circulaire entourée de belles essences d'arbres. Le jardin possède également un lagon, une belle forêt et un cactus avec un échantillon complet d'espèces chiliennes.
Ce jardin botanique compte plus de 3000 espèces, dont plusieurs de grande valeur.

Par Microbus:
De Viña del Mar ou Valparaíso: prenez le Microbus Nº203 d'Expressos Viña del Mar qui passe par Errázuriz à Valparaíso et continue par Alvarez à Viña del Mar. Descendez au Terminal El Salto. Traversez le pont El Olivar et marchez environ 500 m jusqu'à la Portería.
En voiture:
De Viña del Mar: prendre la Calle Limache jusqu'à la gare routière n ° 203 d'Expressos Viña del Mar, à El Salto. Tournez à gauche, traversez Puente El Olivar et parcourez environ 500 mètres jusqu'à la Portería.
De Viña del Mar, Quilpué ou Concón: prendre le Camino Troncal et tourner en direction du Camino El Olivar. Après environ 2 200 mètres, vous accéderez à la Portería.
Le plus exceptionnel est peut-être le Toromiro, un arbre indigène de l'île de Pâques, où il s'est éteint. Avec son bois, les "tables parlantes" et les "toromiros" de l'île de Pâques ont été construits. Dans ce jardin botanique, il a été reproduit et en 1995 emmené sur l'île de Pâques, dans le but de le restaurer sur son territoire d'origine.
