With a height of 5916 meters, the volcano is part of the Andes Mountains and can be seen from the town of San Pedro de Atacama.



Located on the geographical boundary between Chile and Bolivia, it offers its snowy peaks to visitors who can make excursions from the base camp located at 4300 meters above sea level and also from an intermediate camp located at 4700 meters.



The Licancabur Volcano is also of enormous archaeological and anthropological interest as a result of the Inca records found in its surroundings, which recall ancient sacred ceremonies.

Then take a detour along a dirt road to the Hito Cajón border crossing with control in Bolivia.



The attraction has a crater that contains a lagoon inside that freezes during the winter season, while the ascent to the volcano is recommended between August and December.
