It took more than 55 years to complete its construction, which began in 1875 and ended in 1930, thanks to the intervention of the French architect Carlos Carré. Located on the north side of the central Bolívar Park, it is claimed to be the largest church in the world built in fired brick - with about 1,120,000 of them.

Its Romanesque architecture houses works of art and architecture highly appreciated by connoisseurs, such as the Spanish stained glass windows, the canopy and the pulpit, the holy water sources in marble, among many others. Your Walker organ is already a collector's gem. In the Altar del Santísimo is the work El Cristo del perdón, by the painter Francisco Antonio Cano, one of the most visited attractions of the Cathedral.
