Cette propriété, construite en 1910, a appartenu à Don Agustín Délano Ross jusqu'en 1912. En 1947, il vendit cette propriété à M. Enrique Shiappacasse Moltedo.
Le 28 septembre 1973, il a été acquis par l'illustre municipalité de Viña del Mar. Depuis 1986, le musée archéologique et d'histoire naturelle Francisco Fonck occupe ces locaux. Ce dernier se distingue par l'affichage dans son jardin d'un authentique moai ramené en 1951, directement de l'île de Pâques.
Le Musée possède une importante collection de cette zone insulaire, constituant l'une des plus complètes du genre, qui permet de visualiser la culture et la civilisation Rapa Nui.

Une des options pour se rendre à Viña del Mar est par la route 68, vous entrez dans Valparaíso et suivez les bons panneaux pour vous rendre à Viña. La route Viña - Valparaíso est longue de 5,5 km et commence à Caleta Abarca.
Il y a aussi une route directe vers Viña del Mar depuis la route 68 vers Variante Agua Santa ou la route 66, pour parcourir un beau chemin avec vue sur la baie de Valparaíso et les plages de Viña del Mar.
L'endroit abrite un échantillon précieux de cultures variées du Chili continental et également une exposition complète sur l'histoire naturelle du Chili qui comprend de nombreuses espèces de la faune du pays, une importante sélection d'insectes et de reptiles.
