Created in 1986, the Pinacoteca Benedicto Calixto Foundation is a non-profit organization that benefits from the Culture Incentive Law for the survey and cataloging of the painter's work. In addition to storing documents and personal effects, the Documentation Center brings together 62 works by the artist, 14 anatomy, 12 historical, 14 marine, 11 portraits, 10 sacred and one nude. All of them on permanent display.

Besides being a historical and artistic reference, the Pinacoteca aims to stimulate culture in general, with emphasis on the fine arts. In this spirit, it receives exhibitions by renowned national and international artists, musical, literary and theatrical events, promotes and develops courses, lectures and meetings focused on art.

A 2,378-volume library, hundreds of exhibition catalogs and dozens of magazines are publicly available for consultation. It accepts donations of works that have as theme the arts in general.

Pinacoteca Benedicto Calixto is also the only cultural center of Baixada Santista that joined the Free Book project, a worldwide initiative that aims to stimulate reading, circulating books already read among aficionados, free of charge and without the commitment to return.

BENEDICTO CALIXTO PINOCOTECA FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

This non-profit civil association was created in August 2003 with the purpose of raising funds for the expansion of the Foundation's activities, as well as for the preservation of Benedicto Calixto's works and maintenance of the property where Pinacoteca is located. Composed of businessmen, professionals and others interested in keeping alive the history of the city and its cultural identity, the association is open to new members.
