Die römische Brücke von Silves oder Ponte Velha, deren Rekonstruktion aus dem 15. Jahrhundert stammt, könnte bereits während der arabischen Besatzung existieren, was einige Autoren mit Spuren einer römischen Straße in der Nähe rechtfertigen.
Bei dieser Brücke wird das Brett von fünf Rundbögen getragen, deren Pfeiler durch Hebezeuge geschützt sind.
