The Spicy Spice Museum is a private museum founded in Hamburg in 1991. With 152,000 visitors in 2007 it is one of the most popular museums in the city.
The Spice Museum has been located in the historic Speicherstadt since 1993 on an old warehouse floor in the Lauschen warehouse one and the new HafenCity buildings on the other side of the street.
The topic of spices is shown from many sides in the 350 m² exhibition. Visitors can touch, smell and buy over 50 spices. Rights and rights of spices are seen and seen in view of the spice guidelines. Over 900 exhibition pieces from the last five centuries give a definite idea of how spices are grown, harvested, understood and transported.
An important part of the exhibition is the role of spices in history, which is related to the history of Hamburg, the Speicherstadt and seafaring. There are special offers such as lectures, cooking demonstrations and literary readings.
