They are surrounded by an impressive desert landscape combined with small hills and under the tutelage of the Wawapas and Miculla hills. Studies consider that its antiquity varies from the time of the Tiahuanaco culture (500 AD) to the years 1100 -1445 AD. They cover an area of approximately 20 km2 and were made with red patina on calcareous rocks or silica.

Located 22 km northeast of the city of Tacna (approximately 30 minutes by car).

The scenes include pictures of human beings hunting, dancing, or fighting; animals such as tarucas, pumas, suris, snakes, lizards, foxes, among others; local plants and fruits; representations of constellations and images not yet defined. In the surroundings you can see some typical animals of the region such as foxes, lizards, snakes, eagles and some birds, as well as specimens of the local flora, molles, jaros, chilcas, chieñes and cacti.
