Autrefois, elle était connue sous le nom de terrasse Balmaceda, qui a été démolie pour occuper le terrain lors de la construction d'immeubles d'appartements modernes. Jusqu'en 1955, c'était un lieu obligatoire pour effectuer des danses face à la mer et célébrer la «fête du printemps», avec châles et banderoles. Les plus vieux porteños évoqueront avec nostalgie et émotion ces fêtes candides et belles qui ne reviendront jamais.
Il se trouve sur la colline de Los Placeres entre la descente de Yolanda et la montée de San Luis, à côté de l'université Santa María.
Valparaíso est situé à 112 km. de Santiago du Chili.

En bus
Le trajet dure 1 heure 45 minutes depuis Santiago. Départs existants avec une fréquence de 15 minutes, les compagnies de bus offrent un bon niveau de service et de confort.
En voiture
Pour ceux qui souhaitent arriver en voiture depuis Santiago, ils doivent emprunter la route 68, le temps de trajet estimé étant de 1 heure et 30 minutes.
Il a une belle vue sur les collines et la baie.
