Un tempo era conosciuta come la terrazza Balmaceda, che fu demolita per occupare il terreno nella costruzione di moderni condomini. Fino al 1955 era un luogo obbligato per esibirsi in balli davanti al mare e celebrare la “festa di primavera”, con gare e stelle filanti. I porteños più antichi evoceranno con nostalgia ed emozione queste feste candide e belle che non torneranno mai più.
Si trova sulla collina di Los Placeres tra la discesa Yolanda e la salita di San Luis, vicino all'Università di Santa María.
Valparaíso si trova a 112 km. da Santiago del Cile.
