La casa costruita sul bordo della scogliera, appena sopra la piazza Sotomayor, ha una vista privilegiata sulla città. È stato restaurato e funge da Museo del mare Lord Thomas Cochrane.
Si tratta di una vecchia casa in stile coloniale costruita nel 1842 dall'inglese Juan Muat, che installò il primo osservatorio in Cile in una delle sue stanze.
Espone pezzi di Modellismo navale e mostre rotanti che si tengono durante tutto l'anno, inoltre l'ambiente è curato con piacevoli giardini e alberi secolari.
