Het huis gebouwd op de rand van de klif, net boven het Sotomayor-plein, heeft een bevoorrecht uitzicht over de stad. Het is gerestaureerd en functioneert als het Lord Thomas Cochrane Museum of the Sea.
Het is een oud huis in koloniale stijl, gebouwd in 1842 door de Engelsman Juan Muat, die het eerste observatorium in Chili in een van zijn kamers installeerde.
Het stelt stukken van Naval Modeling tentoon en wisselende tentoonstellingen worden het hele jaar door gehouden, daarnaast wordt er gezorgd voor de omgeving met mooie tuinen en oude bomen.
